Plant a Tree on your Birthday in Nez Perce Clearwater National Forest, Idaho
Project Description
MyBirthdayTree Project is in Nez-Perce Clearwater National Forest, Idaho, along the valley of the Salmon River. Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest comprises 4 million acres of beautiful and diverse land located in north-central Idaho. This vast area is best known for its wild character. Nearly half of the forest is designated wilderness.
The planting project focuses on watershed restoration and the planting of fire-resistant tree species (Ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, and Western larch). In addition, more shade-tolerant species adapted to moisture areas (Engelmann spruce and Western white pine) will be planted on moister sites. Your tree planting will help with the reforesting of the tree stands lost in fires and to reestablish forest cover to improve watershed quality and promote biodiversity for endangered, threatened, and sensitive plant and wildlife habitat – a win for the ecological quality of the forest and benefit the overall environment in the area.
